About the Work
Kudzu is everywhere around us in the Deep South. It springs up with its large deep green leaves, growing at an unimaginable pace. It places a mother root deep below the surface and proliferates itself through vines that spread underground before jumping out of the soil seemingly from nowhere. It is resilient beyond belief. It can create a canvas of green waves washing over entire tracts of land. It can even be cooked and eaten like collards. But as it grows and grows it swallows up anything in its path completely blocking out the sun from reaching anything under it. The rolling green shapes that are created belie a graveyard of dead or dying plants below the surface that are utterly defenseless against a predator as ruthless as this. Kudzu is here to stay and cannot be destroyed but we can learn to live amicably with it.
About the Edition
Each month, Jones releases a 3 fine art photographs from the brand new series 'Closer Than My Breath.' Every print is a meditation on themes of pain, healing, and transcendence, blending abstraction with photographic precision. Inspired by poetry, recovery, love and meditation, these works invite collectors to slow down and experience photography as both image and ritual.
